How can the DPP help you?

Digital Performance Lab works with developers in Northern Ireland, to become the ‘digital arm’ of the agency for a web developer, graphic designer or similar field. The benefits for the developer are:

  • Minimum referral fee of £1,500 per year, per client referred.
  • Average additional development time of £1,500 per year to update page designs and site functionality.
  • Stops your clients leaving to go to full-service agencies or other developers.
  • Offers added value to prospective new clients and helps secure new projects.

For more information on the Digital Partner Programme, you can read our last blog here.

The benefits from joining the Digital Partner Programme are great – but don’t just take our word for it. In this blog we’ll provide case studies from two of our partners who are already benefitting from the Digital Partner Programme. Let’s begin!

eCommerce Case Study

A recent partnership included working with a Northern Ireland-based developer, who worked closely with an online retailer, selling women’s clothes. By introducing just one client to Digital Performance Lab, this NI web developer now generates £1500 per year in passive income and has created a project worth over £3500 to the developer.

How did it start?

The project started off with the developer as an ads project. The site turned over £42,000 in 2016 – with all revenue being generated from social media and Google ads. Digital Performance Lab were brought on as a partner by the website developer in 2017, to help improve the ads performance and explore other options to increase sales. A Black Friday campaign was subsequently developed, that generated £8,000 in sales via digital ads, on a spend of £750. This helped to solidify the partnership and show the client that the partnership between the current website developer, plus Digital Performance Lab was worth the investment.

What happened next?

Fast forward to 2021; the project has expanded to include support in email and SEO, as well as paid social and paid search, helping to drive £800,000 in annual sales. The project also includes quarterly usability testing and design updates, helping to increase the conversion rate on the site. The site was redesigned in January 2020 as a result of these tests. This website developer now has a monthly design retainer with the client to implement these recommendations, worth £2,500 per year. This is in addition to the retainer with Digital Performance Lab for referring the client, worth £1,500 per year in passive income.

What our partner has to say

“This partnership has generated enough work and passive income for me, that I have had to hire another full-time developer.”

Manufacturing Case Study

A recent partnership included working with a Northern Ireland-based developer, who had a 10-year relationship with a concrete manufacturer that sold to the agricultural market.

How did it start?

The web developer had developed a new WordPress template website for the business in 2015 and was also responsible for a £500 per month ads budget. In July of 2016 the site had an average of 3,000 organic monthly visitors and 1,000 paid search visitors. The site was generating no measurable leads. Digital Performance Lab were brought on as a partner by the website developer in August of 2016, to help improve the ads performance, generate more organic traffic, and explore other options to increase sales.

We immediately set up conversion tracking on the website and reviewed the ads account. We discovered the ads account was generating no leads and urgently carried out keyword research and redesigned the ads and landing pages in line with the business objectives and best practice. This resulted in an immediate reduction in ad spend from £500 per month to £350 and created 35 leads per month at £10 per lead.

We then expanded on the keyword research and, in partnership with the developer, created a new site structure and set of landing pages. Within 6 months this increased organic traffic from 3,000 visitors per month to 5,000, and measurable leads from 0 to 150 per month.

What happened next?

Fast forward to 2022 and the website now generates:

  • 9,000 monthly organic visitors creating 270 leads per month.
  • 3,000 paid search visitors per month at a cost of £1,000 generating 150 leads per month.

The project also includes quarterly usability testing and design updates, helping to increase the conversion rate on the site. The site was redesigned in March 2018 and again in March 2021 because of these tests. Each new redesign cost between £6,000 and £8,000. This website developer now has a monthly design and maintenance retainer with the client to implement these recommendations, worth £1,000 per year. This is in addition to the retainer with Digital Performance Lab for referring the client, worth £1,500 per year in passive income.

What our partner has to say

“The partnership keeps my clients happy and brings me additional significant income.”
